Structural Engineer/ Principal Structural Engineer


COMMUTABLE FROM:  Hull, Bridlington, Beverley, York, Scarborough, Driffield, Malton, Pickering and Hornsea. 

SALARY AND BENEFITS: £50k – £60k, Private Healthcare, *Flexible working between Office and Home* and a discretionary bonus scheme.


COMPANY INFORMATION: My Client who are a steel component manufacturer that is well-established and predominantly supplies assemblies/components to the construction industry, are looking to add a Structural Engineer/Principal Structural Engineer to their team. Employing over 120 people, my client works on a wide variety of projects including supplying bespoke press-formed sections, fabrication work and sub-frames for modular buildings. All manufacturing takes place at their site in East Yorkshire, where they are in control of some of the most advanced machines in the country. 



  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a consultancy environment.
  • Be highly professional, ambitious and have the ability to communicate effectively to a varied audience.
  • An excellent knowledge of the design process and the role a Structural Engineer plays throughout the construction journey.
  • Be able to work well as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of AutoCad / Tekla
  • Chartered or working towards chartership
  • Good client liaison skills
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • Good team work.
  • Enthusiastic personality and can-do attitude.
  • Excellent IT Skills/Communication skills both written and oral.




The successful candidate will be responsible for designing structures, liaising with customers to establish and understand design requirements, then complete the designs to the relevant codes. The candidate will also be responsible for issuing completed risk assessments and designs in a timely manner. As well as this, the role will also include reviewing drawings to ensure they are compliant and up to standard. The candidate will be required to update the design and drawing office with new projects and be responsible for marking projects as completed when the design is issued. In addition to this, the candidate will liaise with sales team and customers resolve design queries. A good relationship with H&S and Quality Managers is essential and will include checking and reviewing structures for load bearing suitability and condition as well as reviewing designs with the Quality Manager where problems are highlighted. Providing assistance with the developing of software updates and testing them too.
