My client a leading OEM manufacturer is currently on the lookout for a Supplier Development Engineer. The firm operates in a niche market and are expanding at a rapid rate. This role can offer both long term stability and the chance to advance your career with the business and progress further. The client is an award-winning business and supply to a range of industries including Aerospace, Food and Drink, Plastics, Automotive and Fashion.


You must have the following:

  • Must have experience working within a CI, Quality or Supply Chain department within a Technical Engineering or Manufacturing background
  • Must have experience of Lean and CI tools
  • Must have worked within Engineering and have knowledge of a wide array of processes and technology. A broad Engineering background is a must and be familiar with different materials
  • Must have the ability to coach and develop people and get them to adopt new more effective ways of working
  • Must have experience of data driven systems and stat based analysis
  • Must be an excellent communicator and have strong inter-personal skills to deal with both internal and external parties
  • Must have some project management experience and be able to run different projects
  • Must be flexible to travel and have a valid driving license and passport



This is a newly created role to support the development and improvements required from our suppliers in line with the future growth plans of the business.

This is a key role for the company and the successful candidate will be in an outwardly facing role dealing within my client’s key suppliers. They will be working closely with their key suppliers both on a local, national and sometimes even on an international basis. The role will be focusing on helping improve the supplier’s performance in terms of waste, efficiency, process improvement, quality, systems and on time delivery. The postholder will be analysing the supply chain’s current performance using stat based analysis and identifying current problems, Non-conformances and areas of improvement. The Development Engineer will be able to liaise with internal parties including CI, Quality and Supply Chain departments within the business to help come up with ideas and solutions to help improve the supply chain. Each supplier will be different and have different areas they may need to adapt and evolve. This is a unique and varied role and the candidate must possess and demonstrate cross-transferable experience in multiple business functions and areas. Examples of core skills could include:

  • Lean Manufacturing – to include waste analysis and removal.
  • CI Initiatives – process improvement methodologies
  • Root Cause Analysis – 8D/5Y/6σ/PDCA/DMAIC/CAPA
  • Quality – Analysis of data, FTP, Non-Conformances, APQP, FMEA
  • ISO9001 – Auditing and risk analysis
  • Change Management – NPI, Design for Manufacture, First-Off
  • Supply Chain – On Time Delivery, Kanban, safety stock, MRP, ROP
  • Manufacturing – Capacity constraints, OEE, bottle necks, production flow
  • Cost – Cost reduction exercises, time analysis, inventory reduction
  • Project Management – Experience of project management
