My client is a leading food manufacturing company who are looking to recruit a QA manager. The company have multiple sites across the UK and supply to the major supermarkets.

Role Information :

 

The QA Manager is responsible for the efficient management of the Quality Assurance function with regard to the safe, legal production of chilled and frozen gourmet products to the quality standards specified by our customers

 

 

  • Daily duties shall incorporate:
  • Monitoring personnel and general hygiene standards
  • Maintaining general staff discipline
  • Effective staff training and working practices
  • Maintaining the site rules regarding departmental sickness, absenteeism, holidays and health and safety
  • Daily pre & post operational checks
  • QAS monitoring of product quality against agreed standards
  • Effective identity and traceability of raw materials, WIP & finished product
  • Implementation and maintenance of product sampling plans (microbiological, chemical and organoleptic)
  • Implementation and maintenance of all internal audit systems to confirm compliance with specified standards
  • Implementation and assessment of all procedures as defined within the quality and procedures manual to a standard commensurate with the BRC Global Food Standard
  • Ensuring effective non-conformance reporting and corrective action along with root cause analysis
  • Attend daily production meetings in order to raise awareness on all matters relating to food safety, legality and product quality
  • Be familiar with all relevant company policies, procedures, technical specifications and HACCP pertaining to the site and its products
  • To be proactive and effective in the training and review of departmental QA staff to a high degree of competency and where required, to assist in the general training of staff where this may impact on product safety, legality and quality. Training shall ensure that absenteeism can be covered by trained deputies
  • Responsible for all aspects of departmental health and safety and for ensuring that departmental staff are aware of all hazards and responsibilities associated with their duties
  • To maintain a programme of product taste panels at a specified frequency and drive necessary improvements
  • Assist the Technical Manager in dealing with all customer complaints but will be specifically responsible for the monitoring of compliant trend analysis (CAREs)
  • Assist the Technical Manager in preparing for, dealing with and implementing all actions associated with site visits, audits, pre-production and first production activities
  • Be a member of the site HACCP Team
  • Responsible for maintaining the calibration register for key equipment
  • Carry out monthly traceability audits, rotated between forwards and backward traces, to demonstrate effective ingredient, raw material and process history
  • Have a flexible approach to the hours worked as this may require occasional weekend working
  • Lead independent projects as and when the need arises, ensuring that all company, legislative, customer and 3rd party accreditation body standards are considered
  • Managing all ER related issues, including disciplinaries, investigations and performance management
  • Managing talent and succession planning, recording through the HR Department
  • Promoting and leading change management through driving good behaviours and leading by example
  • As part of your role and the activities within your role. You are responsible to ensure you carry out your activities in such a way which ensures the foods we produce under your control are done so, that deliver and safeguard Food Safety & Quality. That compliance to relevant Legislation & Legal requirements are upheld at all times and that the foods produced along with the controls undertaken by you and your teams, is done so with absolute Integrity at all times.
