JOB TITLE: Shredders Welder (Nights)


Days – Monday to Friday 11pm – 7am


COMMUTABLE FROM:  Chelmsford, Southend-on-sea, Basildon, Wickford, South Benfleet, Dagenham.






COMPANY INFORMATION: My client is a leader in the renewable energy sector and operate the new Recycling facility in the Essex region.




Time served apprenticeship ideally with a level 3 or equivalent City & Guilds qualification.



  • Directly manages the performance of M&E maintenance technicians, the instrumentation and control (I&C) technicians and cleaning labours
  • Introduce the 5s methodology
  • Execute an effective predictive and preventive maintenance program to minimize unscheduled down time.
  • Maintain all operating equipment in satisfactory condition. Schedule needed repair to have minimum interference.
  • Recommend modifications of existing equipment and facilities and the possible replacement of existing equipment which will improve operations and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Responsible for the efficient maintenance of all plant transportation equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining Maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Responsible for Plant building maintenance and repair.
  • Develop an annual budget that will adequately provide for required Maintenance activities. Review and report monthly on performance against budget.


The position works within the shredders Maintenance team, you will responsible for the planned and reactive mechanical maintenance of shredders, adhering to strict health and safety procedures at all times. You may be asked to work elsewhere in the plant. You will also provide guidance to Maintenance semi-skills.


The role of welder involves the preventive and reactive maintenance in the shredders, doing hard facing and welding jobs when are required, involving welding to a high standard. You will be expected to comply with all the site rules and company standards, understand and comply with the hot work permit system and work in a safe professional manner.



Time served with a minimum of five years welding experience.  To have strong MIG welding skills and experience in using plasma and flame cutting.
