My client is a leading specialist manufacturing company who need to recruit an extra Buyer to deal with a sharp increase in the company’s order book.
 The candidate will be expected to interpret engineering drawings and specifications and understand manufacturing processes in order to find new suppliers and obtain quotations.  Work with key specialist suppliers to provide high value goods/services.  Need to liaise with engineering/manufacturing within the company and also provide a key buying resource.

Duties

1. Provide a key buying resource to the company for a specified commodity.
2. Obtain quotations as demand dictates for bought out parts either for assigned projects or goods and services as required.
3. Expediting any ‘specific to the buyer’ orders raised as necessary.
4. To manage selected suppliers when required to do so in line with any specific technical requirements of the product and budgetary parameters.
5. To act in response to cost down initiatives identified by the company as potential areas for saving, actions, targets and timescales as dictated by the initiative.
6. Communicate effectively at any level within the business as circumstances dictate.
To be considered the candidate must have experience of buying within a manufacturing or engineering background. The successful candidate would ideally be able to interpret engineering drawings and understand manufacturing processes. The candidate must have excellent negotiation skills and be a good all round communicator with both internal and external contacts.
